Andrew & Melissa

Melissa and Andrew met just six weeks after Andrew moved to BC, at a Vancouver Canucks game.

The tickets had been purchased by the company where Melissa worked, and where Andrew’s brother also worked at the time (though the two didn’t know each other). Both Melissa and Andrew happened to be “plus ones” at the event, and that chance encounter started their relationship.

Melissa was raised in a wonderful Pentecostal family, where she grew in her love of Christ. When she and Andrew started dating, she started attending RCIA classes at St. Matthews and Andrew joined for support.

Married for two years, they share a deep faith and a joyful life together, though they still playfully disagree about which NHL team deserves their cheers.

About Andrew

Andrew is a cradle Catholic and is a middle school vice principal with a passion for education and adventure. Originally from Ontario (go Leafs go!), his career has taken him overseas to teach and work as a vice principal at Canadian and American schools in South Korea, Qatar, the UAE, and Thailand. He enjoys campfires, biographies, and playing hockey on a weekly basis! Andrew also helps facilitate the RCIA at St. Matthew's!

About Melissa

Melissa is an accounting instructor at Capilano University. Before teaching, she worked with Deloitte as an accountant and in their internal professional development team. Before that she was in finance at Scotiabank. Melissa was raised in Surrey, just minutes from St. Matthews where she and Andrew now live. She is also an avid softball fan who has played and coached at high levels.
